                            General Rules

It is a condition of entry that the rules are accepted and understood.

                            1. The judge’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.

                            2. Hats: It is compulsory to wear a riding hat and chin straps to at least the specification detailed, i.e. at least Kite marked BS4472 or BS6473, when mounted on the showground. Hats should conform to BSEN1384 or PAS015 standards. Suitable attire is to be worn in all rings.

                            3. At the discretion of the committee no stallions are allowed on the show ground unless they are pre-declared, bitted at all times and handlers/riders must be aged 16 or over.

                            4. First class in each ring will commence promptly at the advertised time. Classes after the break will not start before 1pm. Should there be insufficient entries, classes may be amalgamated, altered or cancelled at the discretion of the Committee. It is the competitor’s responsibility to enter the ring when asked to do so. Failure to do so may lead to elimination from the class unless the Ring Steward has been informed of the circumstances, it is then up to the judge’s discretion as to whether the competitor may compete. Competitors should note that classes may overlap.

                            5. Riders must not gallop or canter anywhere on the showground except in the warming up area or in the rings. Offenders will be asked to leave the showground without the refund of any entry money.

                            6. The Committee and organisers do not hold themselves responsible for any accident, loss or damage to competitors, spectators, animals, vehicles or property for any reason whatsoever.

                            7. The Committee reserves the right to measure the height of any animal that is suspected of being the incorrect height for the class in which it is to be entered. In the event of such action being taken and the animal being found to be of incorrect height, the Committee will have the authority to disqualify the said animal from the class in question until a height certificate to the contrary has been produced.

                            8. Any objection to be put into writing and handed in to the Show Secretary not more than one hour after the class has ended and must be accompanied by £10 (refunded if the objection is upheld).

                            9. No whips or spurs allowed in Handy Pony classes. No spurs in Working Hunter Pony classes. The excessive use of whips and/or spurs is forbidden. Whips must not exceed 30" (75cm).  Spurs must be blunt, turned downwards and not inwards.

                            10. Riders/horses age as at the 1st January 2011 in the current year. Members cannot change sections during the season, i.e. Lead Rein competitors remain in Lead Rein classes for the entire season, and on the lead rein around the showground. Except by application towards the end of the season for First ridden classes.

                            11. Entry fees will only be refunded in exceptional circumstances.

                            12. Any Horse/Pony competing in riding events must be four years old or over on the 1.1.11 and must be in sound condition.

                            13. Dogs must be kept on a lead at ALL times.

                            14. Litter MUST be placed in the bins provided or taken home and no mucking out is permitted anywhere on the showground or car parks.

                            15. The Committee has the right to refuse admission to the showground any horse or person for any reason. The Committee has the right to alter, amend or add to these rules as they feel necessary.

                            16. Members who do not attend their work party and fail to produce a valid reason for doing so, and fail to provide a substitute, will not have their next show entries accepted. Any points gained during the season will not be awarded.
